Partnerships for Purpose | Transurban & KARI Foundation

Transurban partnered with KARI Foundation to address Indigenous First Nations driver licensing barriers through the KARI Transurban driver training program. The initiative provides free learner classes, driving instruction, and culturally sensitive support from First Nations instructors to tackle the fact that less than half of eligible First Nations people hold driver’s licences compared to 70% of non-Aboriginal population. The program enrolled 173 in Learner Drivers Education, with 311 gaining Learner Driver’s Licence, 247 enrolled in Provisional licence program, 232 gaining Provisional licence, and 155 going on to gain employment, creating $855,000 in social value (2020-2023).
