Published by the Shared Value Initiative and FSG, the Purpose Playbook focuses on the how. It explains how to put purpose into action by employing nine essential shared value practices; each of which is supported by concrete steps and examples.
The Playbook aims to help companies better understand what it means to be a purpose-led organisation, what makes a purpose worth having, and how to deliver on the promise of purpose by focusing on the business discipline of shared value.

Purpose Playbook Learning Cohorts
The Purpose Playbook Learning Cohort program is designed to help practitioners and line leaders gain a deeper understanding of how to navigate the Playbook and apply it to their own impact efforts. The program will take place over four focused monthly sessions that support the design of a company’s own shared value initiative, whilst facilitating peer-to-peer learning.
It will be broken into four monthly sessions to cover the key elements of the Playbook:
- Session 1: Purpose and Culture
- Session 2: Strategy
- Session 3: Operations
- Session 4: People
Harnessing peer-to-peer learning, the workshop series will culminate in 1-1 mentorship sessions.
Members and non-members are welcome to apply for selection by connecting with the team at info@sharedvalue.org.au.
“The Purpose Playbook moves purpose into action with nine essential shared value practices, making the steps concrete and offering illuminating examples. It is our great hope and belief that this tool will help amplify the impact of purpose around the world.”
