This award celebrates a project or program of activities that have clearly activated a company’s purpose, the organisation’s role in society beyond profit, and how this has benefited a social or environmental issue. This may also include addressing needs for employees, customers, and supply chain. The project or program will be able to demonstrate how it clearly advanced the purpose of the organisation, articulate the tangible impacts the project or program has made, and how and where partner organisations assisted.
Criteria
The Activating Purpose Through Shared Value will meet the following criteria:
Clear societally-driven purpose
The organisation has:
- A clearly articulated purpose, that is focused on the organisations’ role in society
- Integrated the organisational purpose into business decision making and is being used as a ‘north star’ on strategic choices by the executive and board
- Used its purpose as a guide to organisational goals
Shared value activation
The organisation has:
- Demonstrated how a shared value approach was used to identify projects or programs that would activate the company purpose
- Clearly identified a critical audience and need
- Implemented a project or program of activities that are clear proof points that the stated purpose is delivering on a societal or environmental problem profitably
Impact and measurement
The organisation has:
- Implemented a project or program of activities that are clear proof points that the stated purpose and deliver on a societal or environmental problem profitably.
- Clearly defined a measurement approach included as part of the project/initiative, which informs an evaluation and goal-setting process.
- Demonstrated both economic and societal impact.
- Articulated how the purpose was used within the measurement framework.
