At the 2017 Shared Value Leadership Summit in New York in May, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop MP shared a message on her leadership and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s commitment to shared value. 

The Minister recognises the importance of engaging the private sector in helping DFAT to meet overseas development challenges, and how the department have made a commitment to shared value as a framework to support this work.

The Minister highlights that Australian aid now supports commercially sustainable solutions to development challenges wherever possible, and that profitability and positively can and should go hand in hand.
