Jennifer Stevenson

Director, Shared Value Project

Jennifer is the Vice President of Communications and Brand for Cochlear, an ASX top 50 company. Cochlear is the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, helping people of all ages, in more than 180 countries to hear using cochlear implants, bone conduction implants and acoustic implants.

Jennifer leads a global team to deliver the company’s internal and external communications and brand strategies.  Working in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other areas of healthcare for over 20 years, Jennifer has extensive experience in designing and employing communications strategies to enable business priorities, build trust and create shared value. At Cochlear, her work focuses on transforming the way people understand and treat hearing loss by improving awareness and access, and bringing to life the value the company delivers in helping more people to hear, which contributes to a healthier and more productive society.

Prior to Cochlear, Jennifer served as the Head of Communications for Australia & New Zealand, and the Director of Public Affairs for Asia-Pacific, for global healthcare company Abbott – leading teams across more than 10 countries to deliver on the company’s awareness, access and innovation work, and support its position as the global healthcare industry group leader on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and the industry sector leader on Fortune’s Most Admired Companies list. While at Abbott, Jennifer also represented the company on the Medicines Australia Health Consumer Organisation Working Group, connecting the pharma industry with not-for-profit organisations to deliver shared value.

Jennifer supports not-for-profit organisations in the hearing sector via awareness and access initiatives, and has counselled patient advocacy organisations representing more than a dozen areas of health.  She mentors communications professionals in Australia, internationally and via local university programs.  She was also a part of the Observership Program, working with the board of not-for-profit Good360.

Jennifer studied Communications at William Jewell College, and has lived and worked in the US, UK and Australia.
