Colin specializes in international business with a particular focus on emerging markets. He has over 30 years’ experience spanning diplomatic, trade, strategy and management consulting and line management roles. Colin’s ability to formulate and implement complex business and coordination strategies has been developed from an extensive industry background including governance, energy, telecommunications, technology, infrastructure, mining and agribusiness. He currently leads Cardno’s Asia Pacific International Development business, managing 1,400 staff and contractors delivering development projects across the region.

For the past ten years, Colin has worked extensively in social performance, for both public and private sector clients, principally in the resources sector. This has included large-scale development projects in PNG; environmental and social regulatory processes in West Africa, Asia and Latin America; as well as consulting around development issues including local level service delivery, community security, development strategies and social mine closure planning. He lectures in social risk management in Indonesia and for the Enterprise Risk Management Academy based in Singapore.

As a diplomat and trade representative for 15 years in the US, Asia and Latin America he deployed diplomatic and negotiating skills with a particular emphasis on relationship building, change management and high level advocacy to government in difficult and changing environments.
