Joining the SVP membership this month is Greening Australia, a national, not for profit, environmental organisation that aims to restore and conserve Australia’s diverse natural landscapes to allow people and wildlife to co-exist.
With teams in 30 locations around the country and over 150 staff, Greening Australia uses the latest science to guide what’s best for our landscapes and the people and wildlife that live in them.
True to their vision for a healthy and productive landscapes where people and nature thrive, Greening Australia is focused on leading Australia’s contribution in global conservation effort by providing industry leadership, embracing the cultural and traditional values and perspectives of landholders and stakeholders and by advancing and sharing conservation through landscape restoration program, partnerships and training.
These include working on a pilot project to develop credible metrics and standards that allow the private, on-farm economic benefits from native vegetation and other environmental works on farms (enhanced natural capital) to be realised and stimulate further private capital investment in the environment sector. This project builds upon Greening Australia’s experience in native vegetation and reforestation projects to understand and to communicate to landholders, and in turn, their financiers, the agronomic benefits of their work such that the on-farm financial benefits of native vegetation are explicitly valued by the market.
We are delighted to welcome Greening Australia to the SVP member network.
