Insight Event: FMCGs creating competitive advantage

September 3, 2018

Stuart Irvine, Lion CEO, opened the evening providing inspiring insight as to how Lion has worked, and continues to work, to infuse shared value at all levels of the organisation, and how this is key for business to flourish in the 21st century.  Stuart shared Lion’s leadership principles and the importance of having a clear reference point to ensure choices are made for long term benefit.

Featuring a panel of FMCG leaders, and moderated by SVP’s Helen Steel, panellists discussed how they use shared value to achieve competitive advantage in the FMCG sector.

Panellists, Libby Davidson, Group General Counsel and External Relations Director, Lion; Scott Matyus-Flynn, Partner and Head of Strategy, Republic of Everyone; and Margaret Stuart, Head of Corporate and External Relations, Nestlé Oceania responded to questions that enabled discussion about: how to embed shared value in an organisation, starting with looking at where the business comes up against societal issues, what those issues are and how positive impact can be achieved and measured, and profit made; the supply chain, packaging and waste, and opportunities for collaboration and collective impact.

Panellists agreed there is much opportunity to learn from each other particularly on complex issues like packaging and waste, which requires a collective approach from multiple sectors.

SVP with its member organisations hosts Insight events to explore specific areas of shared value that are of interest to its members. Interested in working with us to host an Insight event? Contact us at info@sharedvalue.org.au
