Conservation Volunteers Australia

We are a national, for-purpose charity dedicated to helping people act for nature all over Australia. From ocean litter collection to bushfire recovery, citizen science activities, to building backyard Nature Blocks™ – a fun, vibrant experience where you can make a difference to restore our native habitat. We help everyday people connect and care for nature all over Australia.

Everything we do feeds into resilience, restoration, and climate mitigation and helps reduce biodiversity loss. We provide year-round opportunities for people to take action to help nature on land, oceans, coastal areas, and inland waters. Our partners grow our community by taking simple, fun, and measurable actions for nature across any or all our three “anchor” inspiration themes in the community happening across Australia 365 days of the year – Actions for Biodiversity, Actions for Climate, and Actions for Oceans and Waterways.

We are CSIRO’s sole NGO science partner for ending plastic waste, so what we do matters and influences government policy. We’re also a proud member of the UN Global Compact and we measure and report on all our actions and impacts against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), annually.

Shared Value really matters to CVA. As a not-for-profit (NFP) trying to tackle one of the world’s most challenging problems – the environmental crisis – we need the intelligence and resources of all to help. We work with partners who share the same values as Conservation Volunteers Australia and have a common shared vision and purpose; together, we work on a set of goals that cannot be achieved alone.

Shared Value, to us, is a more than a financial model; it leverages a broader, deeper commitment with leaders who have real ‘skin in the game’ and a commitment with communities empowered to want to help solve the problem.

By 2026, we will have built a strong community of 1 million people, engaged through our ‘always on’ year-round opportunities across Australia to help restore and protect our land, oceans, wetlands, and waterways. Together with our partners, we empower every Australian to take simple yet powerful actions for nature, with a mission to improve people’s well-being and environmental health for stronger communities and more resilient ecosystems.
